Lock Tokens
Lock your project token until a date in a Jupiter Lock escrow on Solana, and claim matured locks, including LP locks, back to the wallet.
Locking team or treasury tokens shows buyers that the supply cannot be sold before a date. On Solana profiles, Sumo locks the project token a treasury wallet holds in a Jupiter Lock escrow, from the profile's Wallets tab, in the wallet actions menu. Jupiter Lock is a free, audited program, and explorers and trading terminals recognise its escrows.
Each lock moves tokens from one wallet into one new escrow. The escrow pays out only to that same wallet, and it cannot be cancelled or given a different recipient, by you or by Sumo.
Locks cannot be undone
Tokens in a lock stay there until the unlock date. Check the wallet, amount and date before confirming.
What a lock is
- One unlock date. Everything unlocks at 00:00 UTC on the date you choose, at least 1 hour and at most 10 years ahead. There is no cliff or gradual vesting.
- No permanent lock. To take tokens out of circulation for good, use Burn Tokens instead.
- Solana only. EVM and Tron profiles do not have this action.
- No Sumo fee. You pay the network fee and the rent for the escrow accounts, about 0.005 SOL, from the source wallet. The final claim closes the escrow and returns that rent to the wallet.
Lock tokens
- Open the profile's Wallets tab and click Lock tokens from the wallet actions menu
- Select the source wallet holding the tokens — active, archived or excluded
- Set the amount, either as a share of the wallet's balance or as a token amount
- Pick the unlock date
- Review the summary and click Lock tokens
The dialog closes once the lock is sent. The lock appears under Your locks when it lands on-chain.
Tokens with a transfer fee
Some Token-2022 tokens charge a fee on every transfer. For those tokens the amount you enter is what leaves the wallet, and the escrow receives that amount minus the fee. The dialog shows what the escrow will receive. The fee is charged again when the tokens are claimed, so the wallet gets back less than the escrow holds.
Your locks and claims
Your locks lists every Jupiter Lock escrow that pays out to the selected wallet, read from the chain. That includes token locks made here, LP locks made with Lock Liquidity, and locks made with the same wallet outside Sumo. Each row shows the amount, the unlock date and whether it is Locked, Claimable, Claimed or Cancelled.
Once a lock's unlock date has passed, Claim returns its tokens to the wallet. Claim becomes available about a minute after the unlock time, so the chain's clock has caught up. A claim only ever releases tokens that have unlocked and were not claimed before, so claiming twice cannot pay out twice. While a claim is still being confirmed, Sumo will not send another claim for the same lock.
The claim that takes the last tokens out of a lock also closes its escrow in the same transaction, and the escrow rent goes back to the wallet; the lock then disappears from Your locks. Locks someone else made for the wallet are claimed without closing, because only the wallet that created an escrow can close it.
Locks made outside Sumo with a gradual schedule show their first and last unlock dates, and Claim releases whatever has unlocked so far.
Logs
Every lock and claim is recorded in Treasury Logs, as Lock Tokens and Claim Lock, with the amount, the escrow address, the unlock date, any transfer fee and the transaction.
