Strategies Overview

Sumo provides automated strategies for market making plus Instant Trade for one-off manual interventions. You can run multiple strategies simultaneously across different wallets or wallet groups.

Creating a Strategy

1. Navigate to your profile's Strategies tab
2. Click + Create Strategy
3. Select the strategy type (Counter Trade, DCA, or Limit Order)
4. Configure the strategy parameters
5. Choose which wallets to use
6. Set slippage and, on supported EVM profiles, private relay protection
7. Click Create Strategy
8. Review the strategy, then activate it when you're ready

Strategy Presets

The Strategies step of the token launch and import wizards includes a preset bar that configures a full set of strategies in one click. Each preset tile shows a projected hourly volume estimate before you apply it.

Three built-in presets ship with Sumo, ordered by intensity:

You can also save your own: Save preset stores the currently configured strategies as an org-level preset with a name and icon, reusable across every launch and import in your organization. Presets can be renamed or deleted from the preset menu, and saving requires the trader role or higher.

Presets whose amounts are denominated in a quote or native asset are pinned to the project they were saved from; when applied on a project with a different quote or native asset, those entries are skipped and Sumo tells you how many applied. USD-denominated presets apply everywhere.

Copy Strategies From a Profile

The preset menu also offers From a profile…, which copies the Counter Trade, DCA, and Limit Order strategies of another profile in your organization into the wizard as a one-off starting point. Each profile in the list shows its token with the network logo in the corner, and names its quote only when it is on the same network with a different quote (for example USDC quote). Profiles on the same network and quote are listed first, and a saved preset recorded on another network shows that network's logo. The copy follows the same rules as saved presets: quote- and native-denominated strategies are skipped when the quote or native asset differs, and Sumo tells you how many applied. Nothing is linked: later changes to either profile do not affect the other.

Managing Strategies

Activate / Deactivate

New strategies are created inactive so you can review them before they run. Each strategy has a status toggle: activate it to start execution, or deactivate it to pause without deleting.

To change a strategy's settings, pause it first. Active strategies can be opened for review, but Sumo keeps their settings locked while they are running.

Filter View

Use the strategy filter to view strategies by type:

• All — Show every strategy
• Counter Trade — Counter trade strategies only
• DCA — DCA strategies only
• Limit Order — Limit order strategies only

Clone a Strategy

Click the clone icon on any strategy to duplicate it. You can clone to the same profile or a different one, and assign different wallets.

Import From Another Profile

Click the Import from profile icon (left of the strategy type filter, with the other icon buttons) to copy several strategies from another profile at once. Each profile shows its token with the network logo in the corner; profiles on the same network and quote as this one are listed first. Pick the source profile, then review its strategies before importing:

• Each strategy is shown the way the Strategies table shows it (for example DCA Buy, Limit Sell or Auto Sell Into Buys), with its type, status on the source profile, key amount, and wallets; select all of them or only the ones you want
• Wallets are never copied between profiles. A strategy that used a wallet group is placed on the group with the same name in this profile when that group has wallets; everything else uses the target you choose under Unmatched wallets use (All wallets by default)
• Amounts are copied as they are. Strategies whose amounts are in a token, native asset, or quote asset that differs on this profile are flagged and left unticked, for example an ETH amount imported into a SOL profile. Tick one to import it anyway, and check its amounts before starting it

You can also import from a preset instead of a profile. Presets are listed above the profiles: Sumo's built-in presets first, then the ones your organization saved from a launch or import. Pick one to see its strategies, built with this profile's quote and slippage settings, and tick the ones you want. They are all placed on the wallets you choose under Wallets. A preset strategy whose native or quote amounts were saved on a different chain or quote does not apply here; it is left out with a note. In the list, a saved preset recorded on another network shows that network's logo. Imported preset strategies are added next to the ones already on the profile; nothing is replaced.

Every imported strategy starts inactive, even if it was running on the source profile, and gets a new name in the same format as a strategy you create. Each strategy is imported on its own; if one fails, the dialog lists the reason next to it, the rest still import, and you can retry the failed ones. Importing requires the trader role or higher.

Edit a Strategy

Click the edit icon to modify a paused strategy's parameters. The strategy type cannot be changed after creation — create a new one instead.

Delete a Strategy

Click the trash icon to delete a strategy you no longer want to use. Sumo asks for confirmation before deleting it.

Deleting a strategy removes it from the active strategy list, but keeps its historical trades and reporting data. Use delete when a strategy should no longer be reused or reactivated, and use deactivate when you only want to pause it temporarily.

Wallet Assignment

When creating a strategy, you choose which wallets execute the trades:

• All wallets — The strategy uses every active wallet in the profile
• Wallet group — The strategy uses only wallets in the selected group
• Individual wallet — The strategy uses a single specific wallet

Only active assigned wallets are used for execution. This lets you run different strategies on different subsets of wallets. For example, you might run Counter Trade on one group and DCA on another.

Wallets That Run Low

Before a strategy trade is sent from a wallet that recently ran short, on any chain, Sumo checks that the wallet can still pay for it. If a fresh balance read shows the wallet cannot cover the trade amount plus network fees:

• The trade is not sent and no network fee is paid
• It appears in Trade Logs as a failed trade with an insufficient-balance reason and a message such as "Refused before sending: wallet holds 0.05 SOL, order needs at least 1.002 SOL"
• Sumo tries the next wallet in the rotation for the same trade (up to two more wallets on Solana, one on EVM chains and Tron). Strategies that use a single wallet do not switch wallets
• After three insufficient-balance outcomes in a row, whether refused before sending or failed on-chain, the wallet is archived. Top it up and unarchive it to use it again
• When every assigned wallet is archived, the strategy stops

Strategy Metrics

Each strategy in the list shows Net Change — the cumulative base and quote asset changes from all trades executed by that strategy. DCA and Limit Order rows also show budget progress when a spend budget is configured.
